Well, the skies may have been gloomy, the water a bit rough, and the temps a bit chilly, but M2 athletes were definitely heating up the course for San Francisco's Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. Preliminary Reports: Age Group Winners: Natalie Shukov female 30-34 Natalie is a good athlete with a lot of undeveloped potential yet who is pretty well balanced in all 3 disciplines, perhaps the bike being the area where she can most improve due to lack of focused attention. Now a computrainer user, and having trained a good deal on a treadmill coming back from injury pre M2, Natalie won this competitive age group in front of friends and family. 2nd in this same age group was M2 alumnus an M2 spinner Monique Petrov! Sunny McKee female 50-54 Although I don't have Sunny's splits for her winning performance, she looked very strong on both the bike and run. A stalwart at track and M2 spin sessions, Sunny is a veteran of the sport who continues to find enjoyment in pushing her limits to new levels. Last year saw Sunny setting several personal bests, and this year is looking like a good one too. Husband Mark, finished a very strong 4th in the 45-49 group, and although a veteran of the sport and this event, Mark too set a personal best. In addition to being fixtures at track and spin, Mark and Sunny credit regular yoga practice as keys to their success. Gina Kehr Gina finished a strong 6th place overall and was particularly strong on the run; a good sign for next month's IMUSA.
